Winnie Harlow carves record to be the first model with vitiligo to be in Sport Illustrated magazine

News24xx.com - Model Winnie Harlow again proves that her physical appearance that is very different from most people to not become the barrier for success. Winnie carved another history, this time she becomes the first woman with vitiligo to pose for the Sports Illustrated for the swimsuit edition.

For Winnie, being the first vitiligo model in the cover of sports magazines that has existed since 1954 is a proud achievement. The edition featuring Winne will appear in May 2019. "This is an honor, not only as a model, but also black women with vitiligo" Winnie told Poeple.

Vitiligo is a skin disorder that causes uneven depigmentation that makes the skin has double colors. Winnie was diagnosed with vitiligo at the age of four. "When i was a child my classmates avoided me. When I asked why, they said their parents told them because they were afraid of being infected" Winnie told me about her harsh childhood. In fact, these skin disorders are not contagious at all.

Have the original name, Chantelle Brown-Young, this 24-year-old Canadian started her career after competing in America's Next Top Model Cycle 21 in 2014. He also became the first finalist with vitiligo in the history of that event.
