The forest fires took about 30 hectares of land in Siak Regency

News24xx.com -  The Forest and Land Fires (Karhutla) in Riau Province being the particular concern to the Central and Regional Governments.

There are two hundreds of TNI-Polri personnel, two Puma AU helicopters, several company-owned helicopters, deployed to extinguish the fire. The last aid came from the Indonesian Air Force which deployed a unit of Casa 212 aircraft to assist in efforts to mitigate the area which had set the alert status of the Karhutla through artificial rain operations.

The Commander of TNI, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto while reviewing the location of the Karhutla in Bengkalis District some time ago, said, "We will try to modify artificial rain, and strive for regular Waterbooming with slings."

Based on information obtained at this time the extent of forest and land fires in Riau Province has reached 1,136 hectares.

Bengkalis Regency with a total fire area of ??817 hectares, Rokan Hilir recorded 132 hectares, Dumai 60 hectares, Indragiri Hilir 38 hectares, Siak 30 hectares, Kampar 15 hectares, Pekanbaru 21.01 hectares and Meranti 20.4 hectares.
