People around the world has less quality sleep each day, study found

News24xx.com - The world is experiencing the increase in sleep disorders. The latest survey shows that the world community is getting less sleep. A new study from Royal Philips found people all over the world are experiencing sleep deprivation. The study found people only slept as much as 6.3 hours on weekdays and 6.6 hours on weekends. This time is lower than the recommended sleep time by WHO which is eight hours every day.

The study, published in the Global Pursuit of Better Sleep Health report, involved more than 11 thousand adults in 12 countries in the world. This survey asked participants questions about attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors related to sleep in January. In addition to lack of sleep, as many as 44 percent of participants said that their sleep worsened in the last five years, while 62 percent of participants described their sleep as 'somewhat' or 'not at all'.

Sleep that is not quality has a direct impact on daily activities. This is evidenced by 60 percent of participants feeling sleepy during the day. According to this survey, in Asia Pacific countries the main cause of sleep deprivation is stress due to worry or pressure as much as 50 percent.

Sleep deprivation is also caused by 32 percent of sleep disorders, entertainment disorders such as television and social media 27 percent, health problems 23 percent, caffeinated drinks and medicines 18 percent, and couples who snore 17 percent.
