News24xx.com - As said by a spokesperson for the A Food Standards Authority, told to metro.co.uk, March 14th 2019: "Do not wash raw meat. Washing meat makes bacteria move into hands, clothing and equipment. When cooked directly it will kill the bacteria on it". Raw chicken can carry bacteria that can cause stomach ache, diarrhea and even vomiting for about 2-5 days. "

Even so, it cannot be denied that washing chicken is becoming a habit for many people. This is very common in households throughout the world. Bloggers and chef Halima Khatun told metro.co.uk, "I always wash raw chicken as my family does. Maybe it’s a habit, because all Asians tend to do it, it doesn't feel clean when it's not washed."

There are others who say, Abbas Kanani who works for Chemist Click who likes to cook at home, "I'm afraid it will spread bacteria because I know the only way to get rid of bacteria is by cooking, but I can't cook the chicken if it's still slimy."

"I use vinegar because I think it's cleaner than water, but actually I realize that vinegar won't kill all bacteria in chickens" Aidan Mannion, head chef at Mill & Brew in Mill Hill, North London who has been selected as one of the British chefs.

If you want to wash chicken, you can use the brining method. Where the meat is soaked in a mixture of water, salt, sugar and spices. Add lemon juice and vinegar so that it can cleanse the chicken while adding flavor.
