News24xx.com - Mayors in two small cities in Iceland complained to Google about its map service, Google Maps. They did not accept images on Google Maps showing that they cities were hit by eternal snow. As a result, tourists don't want to come.

Jon Pall Hreinsson, who is the mayor of Bolungarvik, said he was furious to see his territory always shrouded in snow on Google Maps. Indeed, snow often falls down there, but not throughout the year. "I think millions of people might consider wanting to come and see the map, but they couldn’t see nothing but snow" he complained on Facebook.

This is certainly detrimental because Bolungarvik is a beautiful city. Not only Jon, Guomundur Gunnarsson who is the mayor of Isafjordur complained about the same thing. "Imagine if anyone saw this and in the other direction it looked green and beautiful, of course they will consider to go here. Our city is not always cover by snow" he said.

Gunnarson added that if people look through Google Street View, it appears that Isafjordur is brightly illuminated by the sun. But on Google Maps, the area is always hit by snow. Both hope Google will listen to the criticism. Jon also asked for help from Icelanders who worked on Google. "If there are Icelandic people working at Google, please contact me" he was quoted as saying by the Telegraph.
