News24xx.com - Leica, a German camera maker, recently released an ad that condemned by China. The ad was themed with the 1989 Tiananmen demonstration, a history that is still considered taboo to be discussed in the Panda Country. The ad in the form of a short film released this week tells the story of a photographer with a Leica camera that captures the moment in the field of conflict.

One of the photos he succeeded in capturing was a photo of a man in front of a tank during the Tiananmen demonstration. At the end of the ad there is a writing to commemorate all photographers who are in a conflict zone. "This film is dedicated to those who have lent their eyes so we can see."

Until now the 1989 Tiananmen demonstration was not widely discussed in China, because there were many versions of that bloody event. It was stated that thousands of people were killed in the pro-democracy demonstration between civilians and the military. Leica ads appeared in the same year as the 30th anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen demonstration in early June.

Since its release on April 18, 2019, Chinese netizens have criticized Leica's ads on social media. A company spokesman told the South China Morning Post that Brazilian advertising agency F / Nazca Saatchi Saatchi produced the ad. He said, Leica regretted the misunderstanding that arose over the ad.
