News24xx.com - The Singapore government has announced the discovery of monkeypox for the history of the country. This discovery was responded to by the Batam City Government by installing a body temperature scanner to anticipate the entry of the disease into Indonesia.

According to an expert in infectious tropical disease Dr. Adityo Susilo, SpPD-KPTI from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (FKUI-RSCM), monkeypox has never been found in Indonesia. But this does not necessarily reduce awareness, especially if you want to travel to Singapore.

"According to information from the WHO, monkeypox is not only from monkeys but also from mice and squirrels. With the discovery of this case, we should be careful to face these animals for our own safety and health. Contact restriction is the best prevention effort so that monkeypox is not affecting us" said Dr. Adityo, on Monday, May 13th 2019.

Previously the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) had issued an appeal for residents who were going to travel to Batam and Singapore. The Ministry of Health calls on citizens to maintain clean and healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of infection. The Ministry of Health also recommends that citizens minimize contact with primates, or other material infected with the monkeypox virus.
