News24xx.com - US President Donald Trump in recent months indeed has increased pressure on Iran and sent a war fleet to the Middle East. The move raised concerns that tensions between the United States and Iran could escalate into an open war.

According to the latest poll conducted by the Reuters news agency and the Ipsos research institute, 64% of US citizens - including the majority of Republicans - actually support the Iranian Nuclear Agreement from 2015, which is designed to prevent Iran from continuing its nuclear weapons program in return for assistance and lifting sanctions given by US to them.

But Donald Trump later announced that the United States unilaterally withdrew from the agreement and reinstated the sanctions. The results of the poll released by Reuters news agency on Tuesday, May 21st 2019, said 51 percent of respondents believe that the US and Iran will going into war in the next few years. Last year, the number is only 43 percent.

Nearly half of US citizens - 49 percent - disagree about how Trump handles their relation with Iran. Overall, 39 percent of US citizens agree to Trump's policies. At the same time, 54 percent view Iran as a "serious" threat.

Last April, the US government included Iranian Revolutionary Guards militia in the list of terror organizations. Then in May, the US sent aircraft carriers and B-52 bombing units to the Middle East. A few days later, the Pentagon's Ministry of Defense said the addition of Patriot anti-missile batteries and amphibious assault boats to be placed in the region.
