News24xx.com - The mission called Chandrayaan 2 is scheduled to launch on July 9 to 16. India will deploy its best rocket, the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mk.3, which will take off from the launch center on Sriharikota Island north of Chennai.

ISRO Chairman Kailasavadivoo Sivan said, this is the most complicated and challenging mission that ISRO will ever face. If this mission is successful, India could become the fourth country to land on the surface of the Moon after Russia, United States and China.

"This is not just a launch mission. We will land right in a place that has never been landed before" Sivan was quoted as saying from Spaceflight Now, on Friday, March 24th 2019. "This is very challenging for the entire ISRO team. I have no doubt that the ISRO team will achieve this mission target, with what we are targeting."

If the Chandrayaan 2 launch is on schedule, it is estimated that this spacecraft will land on the surface of the Moon on September 6th. Chandrayaan 2 is projected to land in an area that has never been touched by other Moon missions.

The targeted landing area is around 350 kilometers from the edge of the Aitken-South Pole basin. This area is believed to be one of the oldest collision locations in the solar system, which was formed when large asteroids or comets crashed into the Moon billions of years ago.
