News24xx.com - A 70-year-old man sued his surgeon who left a 145 cm cable inside his body after an angioplasty surgery. Although the surgery was carried out 15 years ago, the cable was only discovered in 2015.

German Ortiz sued Dr Mark Taylor for alleged medical malpractice, professional negligence, the adverse effects of emotional stress, the loss of the consortium, and others.

The cable was found from an aortic vein to one of his thighs, after undergoing an X-Ray scan. The doctor managed to retrieve the cables a year ago, but about 50 cm still remains in his body, Fox News quoted him as saying. "The cable is a catheter guide that needs to be inserted during the angioplasty procedure, but when the catheter is taken, the cable stays inside" said lawyer Ortiz.

The Mayo Clinic site states that angioplasty or coronary angioplasty is a procedure that is performed to open a blockage in the heart arteries. This procedure requires by inserting and pumping small balloons at the location of the blockage to widen the arteries.
