Mental health experts say that we should only work eight hours in a week

IllustrationIllustration - Mental health researchers found a shocking revelation. It turns out people should only work eight hours, or one day, in a week.

That is the most “effective dose” for the mental health of people with paid employment. If they work more than eight hours, it can affect their mental health.

The study reveals that the risk of mental health problems decrease as much as 30% when people move from unemployment to paid work that only needs eight hours per week. But researchers also found no evidence that working more than eight hours will boost your well-being.

The study is published in the journal Social Science and Medicine. It studied the connection between the changes in working hours and mental health and life satisfaction. It involved more than 70,000 residents of Britain between 2009 and 2018.
