News24xx.com - The appearance of a number of mysterious objects in the sky of Kansas City makes people confuse and curious. On social media, people suspect these objects as an UFO. Reported by USA Today, on Saturday, June 22nd 2019, some observers suspected the object is a weather balloon. However, the National Weather Service in Kansas City said that they have no explanation about the object.

KMBC 9 at Kansas City said on Twitter that they had received "several calls" regarding two strange objects floating above the Kansas City International Airport. KMBC displays several photos received online. It was also suspected that the object in the sky is a balloon.

In the end, KMBC reporter William Joy seemed to have solved the mystery. He tweeted that a spokesman for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) told him, "According to the position, it’s possibly one of their balloons on a test flight."

According to its website, DARPA's mission is "to make important investments in breakthrough in technology sector for national security." DARPA tweeted on Tuesday, June 18th 2019 and said that they had launched three balloons from Maryland as part of the Adaptable Lighter Than Air program.

"The aim of the Adaptable Lighter Than Air (ALTA) program is to develop and demonstrate a vehicle that is lighter than air that is able to navigate through the wind over an extended range" the agency said on its website.
