Pedro the turtle, the turtle who lost its leg and gets replaced by wheels

News24xx.com - Pedro, the adult male turtle lost one of its hind legs when it was adopted by the owner. This turtle then ran away from the cage. When returning to the cage, the turtle was found again losing its other hind leg. The owner, Sandra Taylor then took this poor animal to the Louisiana State University Veterinary School Teaching Animal Hospital (LSU Veterinary Medicine's).

"I was impressed by the interest they showed in this turtle. Sometimes people have the idea that pets are just cats and dogs" said a doctor in a zoology apprenticeship at LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Kelly Rockwell, from her official website on Saturday, June 22nd 2019.

Rockwell said the turtle's hind legs had healed quite well. Discussing with other doctors, Rockwell thought of making wheels in lieu of Pedro's hind legs. After agreeing on that idea, Rockwell and other LSU veterinary students put wheels on Pedro. Creatively the wheel is made using a syringe casing and Lego beams.
