News24xx.com -  The Indonesian Police's anti-terror squad Densus 88 arrested a member of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah or JAD in Padang, South Sumatera on July 18. Further investigations revealed that the member had accepted money from Afghanistan.

Novendri a.k.a. Abu Zahran a.k.a Abu Jundi is one of the group's treasurers. The Police Headquarters' chief of information bureau Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said that Novendri is tasked by JAD Indonesia to manage the organization's finances.

"Including funds amounting to Rp18 million from Afghanistan. The money was accepted by Abu Saidah, the master mind of JAD Indonesia, who then gave it to Novendri in Bogor on September 2018," Dedi said in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 23.

Novendri then gave the money to Bondan, leader of JAD Bekasi who was arrested on May 2019.

The plan was to use the money to buy equipment for making bombs that would be detonated in the KPU building on April 22, which was the day that the presidential elections' voting result was announced.

Novendri was also instructed by Ramadhan Ulhaq a.k.a. Deni Bima, a terror convict currently imprisoned in Padang, to send money to a the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) terrorist group in Poso, Central Sulawesi.

"The money was used to finance the logistics need of the group led by Ali Kalora, as well as to purchase weapons," Dedi said.
