Hercules Plane Deployed to Riau Help Extinguish Forest and Land Fire with Water Bombs

News24xx.com - The government will conduct a water bombing to extinguish forest and land fires (Karhutla) in Riau by deploying Hercules aircraft.

This was conveyed by the Commander of the Armed Forces Marshal Hadi Tjahyanto after receiving exposure from the BMKG Pekanbaru during his working visit in Pekanbaru - Riau, Monday, August 12, 2019 in the afternoon.

"We received exposure from the Governor and the BMKG of Pekanbaru related to the hotspot situation including the blackout effort. Indeed, after receiving information from BMKG, it is possible that we will be able to manage the rainfall for TMC (Weather Modification Technique) in early October," he explained accompanied by National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian , LHK Minister Siti Nurbaya and Head of BNPB Doni Mardono.

He said, currently until the beginning of October is expected to experience a drought. "Efforts to have a water boombing have been carried out, where the water is taken to get to the location of the fire is quite far. So there are efforts to extinguish it in various ways including deploying hercules to carry out bombing water patterns until this October," he explained.

This method is expected to be effective in extinguishing the forest and land fires that have hit Riau, even to the point of creating haze that covers some areas, including the City of Pekanbaru.
