Mom wraps her newborn baby in black plastic bags, sends to orphanage by courier

News24xx.com - These days couriers in China are used for everything, but one woman in Fuzhou appears to have taken things just a bit too far by attempting to mail her newborn to the local orphanage.


However, during the trip to the orphanage on Wednesday afternoon, the delivery man happened to notice that the mysterious bundle that he was carrying had started to move and cry.

After investigation, he discovered that there was an infant wrapped inside layers of black plastic bags.


Video has gone viral on Chinese social media showing a crowd gathering around the newborn while the courier waited for authorities to arrive.

On that afternoon, the weather in Fuzhou was particularly hot, a blistering 37 degrees Celsius, and bystanders are seen trying to keep the infant hydrated.

The newborn was taken to the hospital and reportedly is in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the mother, a 24-year-old woman from Sichuan surnamed Luo, has been arrested by police for abandoning her baby.

The incident has quickly become one of the most discussed stories on Chinese social media with many netizens calling for harsh punishments to be meted out against the delinquent mom.

"What a heartless woman. She should be wrapped up in black plastic bags and left to die out under the sun," proposed one Weibo user.
