Da'wah is a way to Prevent Forest and Land Fire

PANGKALAN KERINCI - Efforts to prevent and handle Forest and Land Fire (Karhutla) continue to be intensified, one of which is through preaching, or religious lectures delivered by the Da'i to all people.

The socialization is part of the PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP) Free Fire Village Program (FFVP) in cooperation with the Islamic Da'wah Council (MDI).

Chairperson of the Islamic Da'wah Council (MDI) of Pelalawan Regency, Edi Iskandar hopes that this activity can contribute to efforts to prevent and combat forest and land fires.

"Through propaganda we continue to intensify inviting people to always preserve and not damage the environment," he said.

RAPP FFVP Manager, Sailal Arimi is optimistic about the role of religious leaders in spreading the message of prevention of forest and land fires to the community.

He said the fire-free village program was one of the efforts to prevent forest and land fires, especially in the areas surrounding operational areas. In addition, this program provides incentives to motivate people who are able to protect their villages from forest and land fires.

"Hopefully this will be a solution so that land burning does not happen again, and maximizes socialization efforts, so that the fire hazard message to the community reaches through the participation of religious leaders," he said.

The Fire Free Village Program consists of three phases of programs that support local communities to improve their social and economic capabilities without using traditional methods such as clearing land by burning. The three stages are Fire Care Village, Fire-Free Village and Fire Resilient Village. This program was first launched by PT RAPP (APRIL Group) in 2014. ***
