News24xx.com - The Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL) project undertaken by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (Kemen PUPR) began in Sukajadi District this year. The location was chosen because this district has densely populated settlements.

Head of Riau Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Works, Ichwanul Ihsan, Friday (11/15/2019), said that there were three IPAL projects being undertaken in Indonesia. These three projects were built in Pekanbaru (Riau), Makassar and Jambi.

"But, the progress of the best work is in Pekanbaru. The choice of Sukajadi Sub-district, maybe initially according to the Pekanbaru City Government, the most dense citizens," he said.

The WWTP project was carried out in all of the Districts of Sukajadi to Jalan Cempaka. This year, the next WWTP project is auctioned for the North Jalan Jenderal Sudirman area.

"Finally, all of the settlements in Pekanbaru use WWTPs. The project is carried out until 2022," Ichwanul explained.

The progress of the WWTP work in Sukajadi District has only been completed between 25 percent and 28 percent this first year. This WWTP channel was made to the Rejosari Village.

"There was built a sewage treatment plant. So, all fecal waste from each house went into the WWTP pipe," Ichwanul said.

The large WWTP pipeline is on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan Cut Nyak Dien, passes Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, and ends at a faeces treatment plant in Rejosari Village. At the treatment plant, the stools from each house are reprocessed to meet environmental standards that are safe for the environment.

"We are building this main distribution network of connections to homes (SR) there are around 1,000 units. The funds come from the State Budget (APBN). About 1,000 SR will be built by the City Government of Pekanbaru," Ichwanul explained.

Feces distribution system through this pipe only relies on the force of gravity from the high to the lowlands. It is different from the flow of water through PDAM pipes that are pumped from the installation to each house.
