Implementing Task (Acting) Head of the Pekanbaru City Health Office (Dinkes) Muhammad Amin, Thursday (11/14/2019), said, people who died from DHF as many as 5 people this year. While DHF sufferers recorded as many as 365 people.

"One person who died last as a result of DHF was in the Rumbai Coastal District, precisely in Gang School II yesterday. The results of the field survey showed that the environment where he lived was a lot of stagnant water in the trenches," he said.

Therefore, the DHO will work closely with the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR), the Department of Public Housing and Settlement Areas, and the Office of Environment and Hygiene (DLHK). So that later, handling DHF can be done in an integrated way.
 
"I have ordered subordinates to form a new team in handling dengue involving all relevant agencies," said Amin.

In addition to forming an integrated team, the DHO also optimizes the handling of DHF in puskesmas. Actually, DHF sufferers in Pekanbaru declined from previous years.

"In 2018, the number of dengue fever sufferers reached 10 people. Patients who received treatment reached more than 600 people," said Amin.

DHF sufferers who died may be taken too late to a health facility. Because, sufferers only experience ordinary fever in its initial symptoms.
 
"In fact, the patient must undergo a blood test. If not examined, the risk can be fatal," explained Amin.

Therefore, the community is advised to have their condition checked during a fever at the nearest puskesmas. Keep in mind, health centers that are scattered in Pekanbaru have a laboratory for blood tests.

"If a patient's platelets go down, we quickly take action," he said again.
