News24xx.com - A number of residents who live on the coast in Kuala Selat Village, Kateman District, Indragiri Hilir (Inhil), Riau demolished their homes since Monday (20 January 2020).

Voluntary demolition of houses was carried out by residents to anticipate the occurrence of high waves which in the next few days will occur at sea in front of their houses standing.

"We have appealed to residents to demolish houses, because in the next few days there will be high waves, said Kades Kuala Selat", Taufik.

Taufik added, demolition of houses was done to anticipate the occurrence of things that are not desirable. Because of the residents' homes destroyed and washed away by the waves, it is better secured
first.

"Currently there are three residents who demolished the house. They are temporarily displaced in the family home. We hope that the high waves that we fear do not occur. Although we remain vigilant," continued Taufik.

Meanwhile, one resident of Kuala Selat, Dani Sartika added that in these months there are always high waves.

As in previous years, if the waves come high, it is said that residents' houses on the beach are subject to wave tantrums.

"Residents are indeed demolishing houses to anticipate big tides and high waves. At present not yet how strong. Later when the second month has begun to enter the peak of strong waves," explained Dani.
