News24xx.com - Five children have been moved from their homes after it was learned that their mother and grandparents put them in captivity for an indefinite period of time.

Alabama authorities were first warned about a possible situation of child abuse on January 13, 2020 at Smiths Station, a city of about 20,000 people located in Lee County, eastern Alabama.

According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, investigators conducted welfare checks at home and made contact with four children aged 3, 4, 10, and 11 years. Investigators also found two wooden cages with hooks and keys.

"Investigations [reveal] evidence that children have been locked up in cages on several occasions," Lee County Sheriff's Office said in a statement on social media.

A fifth child aged 8 months was also found to be staying at home but was not present during the police investigation.

As a result of the investigation, the five children were moved from the house and the mother and two grandparents of the children were arrested.

Kylla Michelle Mann, 30, was charged with two counts of child abuse which were aggravated by a child less than 6 years old and two counts of frivolous harm. He was held on bail of USD 122,000.

Pamela Deloris Bond, 66, was charged with two counts of child abuse exacerbated by a child under the age of 6 and two counts that were recklessly endangering, and one charge damaging evidence. He was held on bail of USD 123,000.

James H. Bond, 69, was charged with two counts of child abuse which were exacerbated by a child less than 6 years old and two counts of careless harm. He was held on bail of USD 122,000.
