PELALAWAN - An elementary school student in Pangkalan Kerinci was found dead, drowned in a former C excavation pond, in the area behind the Pangkalan Kerinci Sub-District office, Saturday (2/2/2020).

The boy named M Dafa Aulia (11), a fifth grade student at SDN 007 Pangkalan Kerinci. He was there attending the Campsite activity Friday Saturday Sunday (Perjusami).

"The victim was found drowned in a hole formerly excavated C, around 18:00 WB," explained Pelalawan Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner M Hasyim Risahondua through the Head of Public Relations Iptu Edy Haryanto, Sunday (03/02/2020).

Kasubag Edy explained, the victim along with 250 students and other students were following the camp. "At around 11.00 WIB, all participants started the hiking. At 3:00 pm, participants were checked. Knowing, the victim was not there. And there was a search," Iptu Edy added.

About 2 hours later, the school requested the assistance of Satpol PP and Pelalawan Damkar to look for victims. "Around 6:00 PM, the victim was found in the former C excavation pond," he said.

The Head of the Public Relations Division of Iptu Edy added, the victim was strongly suspected of having drowned in this former excavation pond, when he was going to defecate. "Previously, the victim permitted his friend to defecate," added Iptu Edy Haryanto. (R24 / Ardi)
