News24xx.com -  A postpartum care centre in China has been heavily criticised on Chinese website Weibo, after a video of one of their nurses dropping a baby went viral.

The female worker was seen pushing a stroller when the baby carrier lost its balance and toppled over, causing the infant inside to hit the floor.

The incident took place on the morning of July 16 at the Puruming Postpartum Care Centre in Yanji, north-east China.

However, a spokesperson at the centre told media that the nurse was an experienced medical professional, having worked for more than three decades as a deputy director at a hospital and that the baby was unscathed after the fall.

She also said: ‘The baby was unscathed. A CT scan at the People’s Hospital showed no damage had been caused to the brain.

‘After all, human beings are not gods. There would be times when accident happens.’

But the baby’s family are determined to file a lawsuit against the nurse and the center after seeing the video.

They are concerned that the fall might have effects on the baby in the future, though the fall showed no signs of damage on the baby as of now.

According to a solicitor representing the baby’s family named Wang Xi, the baby was just 19 days old when the accident happened. Yi, apparently angry, wrote: ‘Had the CCTV footage not been released, how long would you hide this matter from the public?’

The clip quickly gathered attention from people on social media, who left thousands of comments, accusing the worker of being ‘careless’ and ‘brutal’.
