Accommodating Corona Virus Patients, Provincial Government Will Use Mental Hospital

The Governor of Riau, Syamsuar said if the Riau Provincial Government (Pemprov) has prepared a Tampan mental hospital (RSJ) as a referral hospital for patients related to the corona virus outbreak or Covid-19.

"This is an anticipatory step if in the future our patients (Covid-19) in Riau increase. Especially the Patients Under Supervision (PDP)," said Syamsuar, Saturday, March 28, 2020.

Syamsuar said, preparations were not only carried out at Tampan General Hospital, but also a number of other hospitals. Among them is Pekanbaru Madani Hospital which will be devoted to all Covid-19 patients.

"It means that in this hospital there are no other patients, such as general sick patients, or patients of child and mothers, but it is specifically for Corona. I have requested it with the Mayor of Pekanbaru," he said again.

The Managing Director of Tampan Hospital, Hasneli Juita, said that in this hospital several rooms were equipped with beds.

"Currently 12 beds are available. But some are still in progress, and can be maximized to 30 units of beds. While PPE is in the procurement process," he concluded.
