Through the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2017 or Global Muslim Travel Index 2017, Indonesia entered the top three of Muslim that have people who always friendly countries, with Malaysia ranked 1st and UAE in rank 2.

From the data, Malaysia and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Becoming Indonesia's toughest rival in the halal tourism market.

But Minister of Tourism, Arief Yahya expressed his concerns with competitors from non-Muslim countries. Call it Japan to Sweden and New Zealand.

"Apart from Malaysia with the UAE, Turkey, countries outside OIC can be more dangerous. But I am more afraid with Japan because for halal tourism they can be more Islamic, more halal than Malaysians or Indonesia, " said Arief after opening the Enchantment Khazanah Ramadan in Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Thursday May 4 2017 night.

The presence of non-Muslim countries in the competition of halal tourism is indeed a uniqueness. Although not a majority of the Muslim community, but that does not mean non-Muslim countries can not compete.

In the ranking of non-Muslim countries GMTI, Japan has entered into the rank 6. While ranked 1 is reach by Singapore and followed by Thailand in rank 2. It is not impossible that non-Muslim countries can overtake the Muslim country in halal tourism.
