News24xx.com -  Romelu Lukaku is now the all-time leading scorer for the Belgian national team. Lukaku has surpassed the previous record held by Bernard Voorhoof and Paul van Himst.

Lukaku scored the only goal when Belgium beat Japan 1-0 in a friendly match at Jan Breydel Stadium, Bruges, Wednesday, November 15 2017 pm dawn.

The Manchester United striker gore a cross from NacerChadli to tear the Japanese goal.

With the addition of one goal, Lukaku has scored 31 goals for Belgium since diving debut in 2010.

He achieved the number of goals in 65 appearances in the national team. More importantly, Lukaku became the top scorer of all time Belgium when he was only 24 years old.

Lukaku earlier equaled the record of Voorhoof and Van Himst by scoring twice as Belgium drew 3-3 with Mexico last week.

Friendly match against Japan itself had threatened canceled held. Local police had warned of potential terrorist threats in the game.

The police finally tightened security and conducted additional checks, which made some spectators late to enter the stadium. However, in the end no security threats were found.
