BBPOM: The public in Pekanbaru must be careful to buying cosmetics, if not want to suffer of skin cancer

News24xx.com - Institution of Food and Drug Supervisor (BBPOM) Pekanbaru, on Monday, November 20, 2017 doing an expose of cosmetic and food, which not suitable to the terms and conditions.

Starting from October 23, 2017, BBPOM has conducted the control of Cosmetics and Illegal Foods.

Head of BBPOM Pekanbaru, M.Kashuri in a press conference said it has examined 50 places that become cosmetics distribution in Pekanbaru.

BPOM found 66 percent of places did not suitable the requirements for selling cosmetic products, because it without distribution authorization and containing of hazardous materials.

"We have secured of 1,923 packages, some are without distribution authorization, some contain of hazardous materials and some have expired with total losses reaching IDR 94,810,500," he said.

Kashuri also explained, to increase the public awareness of the dangers of cosmetic products, BBPOM conduct various socialization.

"BBPOM will conduct various socialization activities in the form of communication, information and education," he continued.

BBPOM also urges business actors to comply with the regulations. People are also expected to be proactive in choosing cosmetics to be purchased. Beside it, BBPOM recommend the public to always remember to check the packaging, read about product information, and not expired.
