News24xx.com -  Cancer is a disease that is feared by many people. From the world health records, cancer is one of the highest causes of death in the world, because until now, the medical world still not found a cure for cancer.

In Inggirs, blood cancer is infected by about 5,500 people annually and has killed nearly 3,000 people.

But a British pensioner managed to fight cancer for five years just by consuming turmeric tablets.

Dieneke Ferguson, 67, became the first person known to recover from cancer after using a tablet made of spices, after discontinuing conventional medical treatments.

Ferguson from northern London has undergone three chemotherapy and four stem cell transplants in an effort to treat the crippling blood cancer. Blood cancer is caused by a plasma cell or a type of white blood cell that, with myeloma, becomes abnormal and breeds uncontrollably.

But the effects of chemotherapy and cell transplantation gave her a terrible backache and after she had relapsed for twice, doctors worried about Mrs Ferguson's life expectancy.

The woman who runs Hidden Art, a non-profit business that helps artists market their work, invented the suspected drug curcumin - one of the main compounds in turmeric.

She took 8g of turmeric tablets every day for years without further treatment, and as she checked her health, the results surprised the doctor.

"To our knowledge, this is the first report in which curcumin represents an objective response in progressive disease in the absence of conventional treatment," her doctor, from the Barts Health NHS Trust in London, wrote in the British Medical Journal Case Report.

"In the absence of further antimilela treatment, the life of that patient can stable over the last five years with good quality of life."

Many experts already believe to turmeric, commonly used in Asian cooking, can protect against Alzheimer's, heart disease and depression. However, this is rarely recommended by doctors because it has not been tested in large-scale trials.

Mrs Ferguson said: "I hope my story will produce more people who know the benefits of curcumin from amazing food."
