Su Caizhi, 30 yo, pleaded guilty to four counts, including the murder of his adoptive father, Pang Tee Lin, 72, to beating his adoptive mother, Wong Ah Boey, 69, and to beating his girlfriend Melissa Foo Fern Yin, 34.

The High Court heard that Su was adopted from Hainan province in China in 1992, by Pang and Wong, who had no children. The couple changed Su's name to 'Pang Kee Hiang' but Su changed it back in September 2015.

On the day of the incident, Melissa Foo went to the Su family's house on Bedok Reservoir Road. She took three packets of noodles that she left on the kitchen table before entering Su's room.

Wong later heard Ms Foo crying for help and rushed over to find that Su’s door was locked. She thought both of them were arguing and washing dishes again.

The court heard that Melissa refused to have anal sex with Su, and both were involved in a fierce debate.

Su then strangled Melissa with both hands until she lost consciousness.

He then punches her face two or three times, and kicks her legs, before stepping on her face. She also hit er hchest at least once.

After a brutal attack on Melissa, Su noticed that his medicine bottle was empty and heard voices in his head telling that his father had hidden the medicine.

Then, Su runs into the master bedroom and meets up with Pang.

Su then punches Pang twice on the right side of his face, and causes him to fall to the ground.

After that, Su stomped on Pang's face. At that moment, Pang's nose had already drained a lot of blood from his head, mouth and nose.

However, Su kept kicking his in the chest even Pang could not defend herself.
Then, Wong goes to Su's room to ask what happened, but Su grabs her head and crushes it on the wall. Su then slapped her, showered a blow on her face, and beat her stomach.

He told her in Chinese:

"I want to hit you till you die."

Melissa regained consciousness when Su was attacking Wong, and called the police after finding Pang on the floor, not moving. When the police arrived, Su was sleeping in his room and uncooperative when the officer called him, and saying that he did not want to be disturbed.

The officer then arrested him. They also found four packs of glue and two empty beer cans in Su's room.

Pang was taken to Changi General Hospital, where he was admitted to the surgical intensive care unit.

He had a coma, severe brain injury, and fractures on his face, ribs and spine.

Due to Mr Pang's poor prognosis, his family members agreed to release medical aids nine days later, on January 9, 2016.

According to a medical report, Su inflicted serious injuries on Melissa's eyes and nose, and she had to undergo facial reconstruction surgery.

He also broke three of her left ribs.

Su has been admitted to the Institute of Mental Health at least seven times since 2012 and has been unemployed since 2014. He spends most of his time in his bedroom and on his computer.

Su exhibits symptoms of hallucinations, delusions, aggressive behavior, and disorganized thoughts, but often skip the prescribed treatment.

He also has a history of alcohol abuse.

Regardless of his condition, his adoptive parents loved him very much.

The two, who worked as traders, gave Su USD 70,000 (IDR 955 million) from the USD 100,000 (IDR 1.3 billion) from money that they received after sale their curry rice stall after retired in August 2014.

Su lost some of his money in forex trading, and two failed businesses.

He also enrolled in an accountancy course that he did not finish and spent money with Melissa and himself.

Deputy General Prosecutor Sarah Ong urged the court to impose a jail term of at least 18 years, recounting the savagery of Su's actions.

He said the elderly couple had a tragic fate in the hands of the man they consider to be a child who had grown up for a dozen years.

Sarah added: "He repayed their kindness with barbarity."

He argues that long prison sentences will be needed to give Su a structured environment and also to protect the public.

Su's assigned lawyer, Nakoorsha A.K., requested a sentence of no more than 12 years. Nakoorsha said that Su was traumatized and felt abandoned since childhood after his real father left him in Singapore.
