News24xx.com - FBI said they received a detailed warning about Florida school shooter, Nikolas Cruz, at last month. But, the FBI failed to act.

Quoted by AFP on Saturday, February 17 2018 the FBI statement was issued on Friday, February 16 2018 local time.

"On January 5, 2018, someone closed to Nikolas Cruz contacted the FBI public access link to call attention to him," the FBI said in a statement.

"The caller provides information about Cruz's possession of guns, a desire to kill people, strange behavior, and annoying social media outlets, as well as the potential for school shootings," the FBI said.

Cruz is a 19-year-old teenager who shot dead 17 people at a high school in Parkland, Florida, on Wednesday, February 14 2018 yesterday using an AR-15-style rifle he bought legally. Cruz has a bad behavior record. She was expelled from her school last year for being disciplinary.

The FBI said news of the caller "should be explored as a real threat to life" and forwarded to Miami FBI field office. It was not done, and "no further investigation was carried out at the time."

FBI director Christopher Wray said he was determined to find out the root of the matter.

"We have spoken to the victims and the family, and deeply regret the extra sadness caused by this terrible tragedy," Wray said.
