News24xx.com -  Sometimes, when we see other people having problems, we always want to try to help. Like the case of a young woman who tried to help her neighbour in UK.

The poor woman, Kirsten Ashby, 27 almost died when she was doused with fuel and set on fire. At that time, she saw there was some kind of problem between her neighbour and his girlfriend and Kirsten had gone round to Bowen’s house in Somerset Close, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, to assist his girlfriend who was suffering a fit.

But suddenly, Raymond Bowen threw petrol over her, then flicked a lighter to set her on fire while he stood smoking a cigarette.  At that  time, 24-year-old Bowen just standing over her, calmly smoking a cigarette and listening to her screams.

Kirsten, the mother of one children, was left with no finger tips, no ears, layers of her skin on her face melted away, and her shoulder-length dark hair burned away. Kristen has been in hospital since the attack since November last year.

Her parents, Lynn and Paul, try and raise money for her treatment and adaptations to help her when she leaves hospital. And also, they have taken care of Kirsten’s daughter Maddison, 9 years old, since the attack.

Now, Kirsten has undergone for 80 operations to start rebuilding her face and body. Kirsten was originally a patient at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and has since been moved to Stoke Mandeville Hospital which specialises in burns injuries.

In the first month after the incident Kirsten was in a medically induced coma after her body could deal with the shock and pain caused by the extensive burns. And she had been in bandages from head to toe, as skin had been taken from other areas of her body in a bid to graft onto her face and torso. Her fingers also amputated and leaving her unable to feed herself or take care of her own very basic needs.

Her mother, Lynn said, "She went there to help, yet what this man did ruined her life and changed our family’s life forever. My lovely daughter was unrecognisable. She had no face – it was all burned away. Kirsten is still psycologically traumatised and obviously upset about the way she looks. However, the biggest problem is that she can’t use her hands."

Bowen, who have five children admitted a single charge of attempted murder on November 17 last year. And now, he was sentenced by a judge for 19 years in jailed for attempted murder.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said, "I would like to pay tribute to the victim for her immense bravery and thank all the witnesses in this case for coming forward. Without the fast actions of member of the public, the victim probably would not have survived."
