Chicken meat and red chili still expensive in Pekanbaru

Along the time of fasting, the prices of some basic foods in Pekanbaru, Riau rose up. Even the chicken meat in the market touched the highest price.

As noted by the Department of Industry and Trade (DPP) Pekanbaru. In addition to chicken meat, kampong chicken also rose from IDR 50 thousand rose up to IDR 55 thousand per kg and red pepper from IDR 38 thousand to IDR 45 thousand per kg.

While chicken eggs are still stable at IDR 1500 per egg, beef IDR 110 thousand per kg, and chili pepper IDR 30 thousand per kg. Also onion IDR 30 thousand per kg, garlic IDR 20 thousand per kg, and tuna IDR 35 thousand per kg.

Head of DPP Pekanbaru, Ingot Ahmad Hutasuhut conveyed that the rise in price ahead of Ramadan is oftenly occur. "The cause as we know along with the increase in consumer demand, while the supply of basic food is limited" he said.

For that Ingot urged people not to panic in shopping when entering the month of fasting. "Do not overbuy it let alone panic on shopping, because it will trigger a price increase" he said.

In an effort to stabilize the price of food items, Bulog also help by providing cheap packages of food. Consisting of frozen meat, cooking oil, wheat, and sugar and can be purchased at Bulog's House of Food (RPK).
