Due to being charged for what they did not order, this couple sued Mcdonald as much as USD 5 million

News24xx.com - Happened at McDonald's Florida branch, USA, Cynthia Kissner and Leonard Werner ordered a Quarter Pounder without cheese. Quarter Pounder is a burger menu that contains meat patty weighing 1/4 pound or about 113 grams. They deliberately ordered the menu without cheese. Because they think hamburgers and cheeseburgers have different prices.

But when they want to pay, the cashier charged with the regular Quarter Pounder menu. Therefore, Cynthia and Leonard felt compelled to pay for food they did not received and ate. They finally filed a lawsuit related to the incident in a court of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on May 8th 2018. And the shocking one is, they sued McDonald's for USD 5 million (IDR 70 billion).

According to the Herald report at May 22nd 2018, the content of the lawsuit is more or less like this, "Customers are forced, and are continually charged more for this product, being forced to pay two pieces of cheese they did not order"

In the lawsuit, lawyer named Andrew Lavin was also listed if the menu Quarter Pounder without cheese had a cheaper price. He wrote, "McDonald's sells four variants of the Quarter Pounder Family, with and without cheese, at a price difference of more than 30 to 90 cents for cheese versus non-cheese variants."

But on the McDonald's menu board where Cinthya and Leonard ate did not see the menu in question. Therefore the McDonald's said that the lawsuit has no legal force.

"We do not believe that this lawsuit is legal, the Burger Quarter Pounder is advertised complete with cheese, we try to accommodate our customers' requests by allowing them to customize their orders, like Pounder Quarter without cheese" said by spokeswoman of McDonald's to USA Today, on May 23rd 2018.

The spokesman also added that each of McDonald's franchises sets prices based on their respective market share.
