What Toothpaste can not be used

Not every Toothpaste is good for teethNot every Toothpaste is good for teeth - Currently, an increasing number of manufacturers of toothpastes are promoting products with a whitening effect, for example Colgate or Oral-B. Each promises a radiant smile without expensive bleaching at the dentist in a few weeks. Unfortunately, this is all just a marketing move. Experts warn that such toothpastes are not only ineffective, but can be harmful.
Dr. Jochen H. Schmidt, a dentist at the German clinic «Carree Dental» in Cologne, says: "With the help of whitening pastes, you can remove stains from coffee or tea from the tooth surface, but they do not give a whitening effect." Schmidt also advises caution: if the toothpaste has an abrasiveness (RDA) of more than 100, it can be used no more than twice a week. It is not suitable for daily use. If the whitening paste is used incorrectly, it will damage the gums, increase the sensitivity of the teeth and destroy the enamel. Teeth become porous, their surface becomes thinner.
One of the signs that the paste is harmful to the enamel are visible particles in it, which are very popular now. Schmidt argues that whitening pastes not only do not help, but can also worsen the color of your teeth.
The best alternative: black carbon toothpaste, which is currently very popular. Active charcoal in the composition removes gently minor darkening on the surface of the teeth. Despite the fact that such pastes can not give a whitening result, they are great forremoving deposits or stains from coffee or tea.
Dentists also do not recommend teeth whitening at home. Baking soda and lemon juice, which are usually used in this case, destroy the enamel and increase the sensitivity of teeth.
