A research says, Australian people have chronic health problems

News24xx.com -  From a study said that Australians live longer, but half of them have chronic health problems that affect the quality of their lives. 

This report is one of the most important discoveries in the Health report of 2018, created by an institution named the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare Australia (AIHW).


Professor Sanchia Aranda, the Chief of Chronic Disease Prevention of AIHW said the condition was caused by obesity, poor diet and lack of physical activity. 

"When they get older, the number of people with chronic diseases will increase as well." he said.


"And to makes Australia being a great example for global level, we must demonstrate a commitment to explain how food is made, to promoting, to labeling, and creating an environment,  and healthy choices in nutrition and physical activity.”


For information, 50 % of Australians have one of the  chronic disease such as cancer, heart disease, mental health conditions, arthritis, backache, and the diseases affecting the lungs, asthma and diabetes.


And about 25 % of Australians suffered from two diseases or more. 

Obesity is still being a major factor for all chronic diseases. And the report says, at least 60 % of adults in Australia were overweight with the number of those who are 'very fat'.


AIHW Executive Director, Barry Sandison says people with lower incomes have three times more likely to have smoking or diabetes and not go to the dentist because the high cost.
