News24xx.com - The country is experiencing an epidemic of "domestic porno" - filmed secretly, with the help of a hidden camera.

Many women of South Korea are inspecting the public toilet cabin so that they are not filmed on camera. Cameras are set to record like women, and sometimes men, undress and go toilet. Sometimes they are found in the dressing shops of clothes, in locker rooms of gyms and swimming pools. Such videos then appear on porno-sites.

Activists in Seoul talk about the need to combat this phenomenon, so that it doesn’t spread to other countries. Every year, the police receive about six thousand applications because of pornography, filmed on a hidden camera. In 80% of the cases, the victims are women.

South Korea is considered one of the most advanced countries in the field of digital technologies. Here, the largest percentage of smartphones in the world - 90% of the adult population has a smartphone, and 93% have access to the Internet. But because of the development of modern technologies that it becomes increasingly difficult to identify crimes and to catch violators.

Activists wanted to prohibit Internet-portals with secretly shot sex-videos, in particular the Soranet site. It numbered more than a million users. This Internet resource contained thousands of videos that were taken off and uploaded without the consent of women caught in the frame. Many videos were taken with the help of hidden cameras in toilets or locker rooms, and also were downloaded from revenge by former partners.

Some women who knew about the published video, didn’t cope with the shock and committed suicide. The police managed to close the site in 2016. But deleted videos can appear on other sites in other countries.

The problem of digital sex-crimes is relevant not only in Korea. Similar cases have been reported in Sweden and the United States. But South Korea stands out thanks to the well-developed infrastructure of digital technologies and the fastest and most affordable Internet in the world. It is necessary to deal with the sites that distribute such videos, and do it internationally.

Last year, the police received 6465 applications, 5,437 people were detained. But only 119 of them received prison terms. This is only 2% of the number of detainees.
