In 1940, Austrian zoologists and ethologists, Konrad Lorenz identified certain features which categorized as cute. These characteristics are big head, high forehead, big eyes, small nose and mouth, and flat cheeks. This characteristic is known as kindschenschema or kinderschema. Physically, this cuteness is translated in the form of a baby.

By looking at the cute and funny characteristics as above, when you see a newborn baby and have these characteristics, our brain will indirectly 'force' you to care for the baby. This does not only occur in human babies. The brain will also recognize kinderschema in baby animals or even inanimate objects with such characteristics. A kitten or a puppy is often associated in this category.

In 2014, a team from University of Portsmouth found that dogs actively often raised their eyebrows and widened their eyes. This style is known as a puppy eye which is difficult to reject its cuteness. With this style, dogs find their new house faster than those who do not have this kind of cuteness.
