Pertamina Evacuated Its' Workers due tp the Attacked by Unknown Aircraft to Refinery in Dumai

DUMAI - Since 06.00 WIB hundreds of TNI, Polri and Pertamina personnel have packed PT Pertamina (Persero) Refinery Unit II Dumai, located on Jalan Puteri Tujuh, Dumai City. Not only personnel, security posts equipped with high-tech radar equipment and various defense equipment owned by the TNI crowded the courtyard of the Pertamina RU II Dumai main building, Tuesday (10/15).

Based on the observation of the Air Force Radar Unit of the Dumai City Air Force, it was detected that 2 unidentified aircraft attempted to cross and carried out an attack on RU II Refinery which is a national vital object (Obvitnas).

Obtain information about the attacker's efforts from Dandim 0320 / Dumai Lt. Col. INF Irdhan, Pertamina's General Manager RU II M. Dharmariza led the evacuation of workers to safety and the status of the Dumai RU II refinery was declared in an emergency condition.

Met at the press conference M. Dharmariza said that the evacuation of Pertamina workers was part of a training scenario to deal with emergencies, especially related to Air Defense (Hanud) held by the TNI at several points in Indonesia.

In the West, Dumai City was chosen as the venue and Pertamina RU II as one of the national agencies operating in the city on the east coast of Sumatra was designated as the host.

"It is an honor for us to be involved in this activity. In addition to being able to test our readiness in dealing with emergencies, this activity is a form of our commitment in supporting the government's work program in this case the TNI-POLRI in optimizing the protection of Obvitnas", said Dharmariza.

Dharmariza further explained that facing this exercise, his party prepared around 200 personnel including the Fire Brigade Team who were tasked with extinguishing fires in accordance with the training scenario, fires occurred in tanks and pipelines contained within the refinery.

Met on the same occasion the technical link of the activities of the Radar 232 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Lek Chandra Kelana Wirabhakti stated that this activity was a synergy between units within the TNI and Polri and involved SOEs as the organizer of the National Obligation which in this case was Pertamina RU II. This activity has become an annual agenda organized by the TNI and has been prepared since 1 month ago. The implementation will be held for 2 days starting Monday (10/14) for the rehearsal and Tuesday (10/15) for the implementation.

As a form of totality in the implementation of training activities, it directly brings superior defense equipment such as 12 missile units from the 004 Missile Detachment and radar with the latest technology that is able to detect air conditions to a distance of 250 KM.

As an illustration of air strikes, the Indonesian Air Force also flew 2 F-16 fighter planes which could cause a roar as it passed through the sky of Dumai City. In the scenario, the aircraft can be repelled by the TNI defense equipment even though the attack could hit the tank and pipeline.

Dandim 0320 / Dumai Lt. Col. INF Irdhan also stated that the protection of obvitnas is one of the main tasks of the TNI to protect the country's valuable assets. Especially because Pertamina RU II's strategic role in supplying national energy availability, the selection of RU II refineries as the host of the exercise was very appropriate.

"We will continue to optimize the synergy between the TNI and Polri and SOEs that manage the National Obligation in various locations. In addition, nationally there will be steps to optimize and improve the quality of defense equipment in the face of emergencies," Irdhan explained (R24 / Dika)
